In the modern society, in order to be classified as beautiful, you have to be skinny. Women who are classified as “bigger” are constantly being judged and are seen as unhealthy and not beautiful. However, just because you are not “skinny”, does not mean you are not beautiful. Society needs to learn how to be loving and accepting of every body type, no matter what it looks like. In the movie “I Feel Pretty”, Amy Schumer is an everyday woman who works at the underground of a makeup company. She is very insecure about her body and decided to start going to the gym. One day, she hits her head and her whole mentality changes. She sees herself as a beautiful woman, and tells everyone about how pretty she feels. However, her body did not change. When meeting her friends for the first time since hitting her head she says “I know you don’t recognize me, but, you guys, it’s me, Renee. Her friends are very confused about her new confidence, since she has been insecure about her body for a while. She goes throughout the whole movie feeling confident in her own skin and doing things she never would have done before. One thing that stood out to me the most in this movie is when Amy’s character visits a shop and is told she needs to shop online because the store does not carry “bigger sizes”. To me, this relates to our theme of Women’s Bodies because it proves that every body type is beautiful, and as long as you believe in yourself. It does not matter what other people think of you, because as long as you believe and fell that you are pretty, it means you are pretty. Amy’s character in the movie thought her body was perfect just the way she wanted it and it made her life so much happier. When you believe in yourself and your body, you can live a happier life
